'Respond to every call that excites your spirit' ~Rumi~
I've been teaching yoga now for a couple of years and earlier this year I felt really compelled to reach out and offer something a little more than a 60-90 minute class. I felt that everything I was doing in my days; whether it be writing, yoga, reading, parenting, bush walking, journaling; all of it was intricately linked to my yoga practice in some shape or form.
And indeed it has been the unconventional time off the mat that I feel I've learnt the most - a connection with a bird on a nature walk, the challenges of maintaining my calm whilst consumed in the daily throes of motherhood!
So last weekend I hosted my first yoga retreat/escape for 20 beautiful women at the stunning Govinda Valley Retreat Centre - a chance to share my yoga life with others and explore the grounds and surrounds of this beautiful part of the world.
We moved, we relaxed, we ate nourishing healthy vegetarian meals. We laughed, we cried and we connected on a level that is very difficult to achieve in a short yoga class structure.
I learnt so much from this experience, what worked really well and things that could be improved next time around. And I'm excited to say that this experience has ignited something really special and powerful within me, and motivated me to run more retreats, maybe even yoga
Hi there and thanks for dropping by! I'm Tehla Jane and I'm a self-confessed word nerd, bookworm and yoga devotee from Wollongong, Australia. I love to wonder and wander, and especially love spending time with my two little girls and hubby Glen. My blog is inspired by my daily musings in my trusty journal, where I scribble out endless pages in almost illegible handwriting and occasionally convert this into a typed format! Welcome!
