"mummy, I'm over frozen"

The apparent age that the 'Elsa-Effect' wears off

My five and a half year old is officially ‘over’ Frozen, marking the end of a 3 year obsession with Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Sven and Kristoff.

Okay okay, let’s be honest here – it’s really all about Elsa.

Rewinding back to the start of those 3 years, we were just about to transition from a ‘pre-Frozen’ era to a ‘post-Frozen’ era:

In the ‘pre-Frozen’ era, the term ‘Frozen’ was used in the very literal sense of the word to describe everyday items such as frozen peas, frozen ice cubes, ice cream, frozen cokes and anything extremely cold in nature; and the movie Frozen was about as well-known as a submerged iceberg in Antarctica.

I’m not a big wine drinker anymore, but I’m not going to lie to you. Some days, I get to the end of the day, and my children leave me with no other option but to..

self pride is the best kind of pride

Why self-praise is so important for the nurturing of our soul
Picture

I've spent the most part of my life seeking positive feedback and endorsement from other people, craving acknowledgement and appreciation from others, and would often be left in a cloud of self doubt when negative feedback came my way. My parents, my teachers, my lecturers, my bosses, my mentors - hearing them say they were proud of me meant the world. But what I didn't realise was how reliant I was on their feedback, how I simply could not cope with the opposite.

every australian needs to read this book

We like to think matter, creatures, weather and organic processes have no power over us. But if you walk deep into a wild Australian landscape, the glossy armour of your self-possession may begin to show a few cracks. Tim Winton

Hello & welcome!

3/12/2017

Comments

A huge welcome and thank you for taking the time to visit my blog, where I write about anything that's going on in my life (such as motherhood, yoga, health, family), or indeed any topic or subject that piques my interest or sparks my curiosity-meter (like most recently my article on Ed Sheeran's social media hiatus). I like to ask questions that no-one else does, to research rigorously and dive deep into my topic, and to use my words in such a way that they invoke a sense of purpose, meaning and resonance with others.

It can be extremely difficult to honour your true innermost intentions in a society that is constantly bombarding us with images and labels telling us how and who we 'should' be, what we should buy, who we should be friends with, where we should live and how much money we should be earning, how many kids we should have and where we should send them to school. The pressure that we place on ourselves in today's modern world is simply flabbergasting.

If I can use this blog to encourage you to think differently about life's dogmas, to challenge conventional thinking, to pause and breathe every now and then (without feeling guilty about it!), and to truly dig deep into your innermost self and light up the world with your unique-ness, then this site will have most certainly served its purpose!

Much love,

Hi there and thanks for dropping by! I'm Tehla Jane and I'm a self-confessed word nerd, bookworm and yoga devotee from Wollongong, Australia. I love to wonder and wander, and especially love spending time with my two little girls and hubby Glen. My blog is inspired by my daily musings in my trusty  journal, where I scribble out endless pages in almost illegible handwriting and occasionally convert this into a typed format! Welcome!
